Intershop hat mich für ein Jahr zum Projekteinsatz nach Melbourne geschickt. Wenn wir aus dem Büroturm des Kunden herauskommen, sehen wir uns natürlich auch das Land an. Was so geschieht, könnt Ihr hier verfolgen...

Intershop send me on a project mission to Melbourne. When ever we leafe the customer's office tower, we are, of course, on the way around to see the country. You can read here, what happens during this time ...

Zehneinhalb, dann noch einmal neuneinhalb Stunden Flug und dann endlich in Melbourne. Immerhin konnte ich den neuen Star Trek-Film im englischen Original schauen. :-)

Ten and a half, after that once more nine and a half hours flight and I was finally in Melbourne. Annyway - I could see the new Star Treck Film in it's original English version on the plane :-)

Der berühmteste Häftling dieses Gefängnisis war Ned Kelley. Er überfiel eine Bank und stellte sich in einer selbst gebauten Rüstung dem Feuer der Polizei, wurde aber überwältigt und endete am Galgen. Die Geschichte wurde bereits in einem Stummfilm um 1900 und in einem frühen Tonfilm um 1930 verfilmt.
Im Zweiten Weltkrieg entkamen neun Deutsche dem Gefängnis nach einer Explosion.

The most famous prisoner here was Ned Kelley. He did a bank robbery and resisted the gun fire of police in a self made suite of amor, however he was overwhelmed by the police and ended up by hanging. A silent movie - already about 1900 - and an early tone film - about 1930 - were made about this story.
In World War II nine Germens espaped after an explosion.

In Ballarat fand ein wichtiges Stück Geschichte Australiens statt: Der Eureka-Aufstand (1854). Goldgräber rebellierten zunächst friedlich gegen eine hohe Lizenssteuer und korrupte Behörden. Als die Königliche Armee anrückte, hatten sie sich bewaffnet, wurden jedoch blutig niedergeshlagen. Im anschließenden Hochverratsprozess hatten sie die Öffentlichkeit auf ihrer Seite. Ihre Forderungen nach Abschaffung der Lizenzsteuer und Mitbestimmung in Parlament von Victoria wurden erfüllt.
Die Göldgräber schworen als erste auf eine Fahne mit dem Kreuz des Südens.

In Ballarat an important event in the history of Australia took place, the Eureka Stockade (1854). After the gold diggers protestet at the beginning peaceful against the digging licence tax and the coruption, they armed themselfes, as the Royal Army approached, but they were defeated in a bloody fight. In the high treason trial after that the public was already with them. Their allowences for abolition of the licence tax and for co-determination in Victoria´s parliament succeeded.
The diggers were the first, who swered at a flag showing the Southern Cross.

Chris gab eine Party, bevor er nach Hause in den Urlaub flog. Der Satz "Don´t touch anything!" (Bitte nichts anfassen!) wird in Errinnerung bleiben: Es ging um das Einloggen der Instrumente beim Band-Spielen mit der Wii.

Chris gave a party before he left for vacation at home. The sentence "Don´t touch anything!" will be remembered, often called while logging in the instruments for beeing a band member in the Wii game.

Die Mornington Halbinsel schließt die Bucht fast ab, an deren nördlichen Ufer Melbourne liegt. Hier gibt es frei lebende Kängurus zu sehen.

Auf Phillip Island haben wir einen Wildlife Park und eine Vogelkolonie besucht, sowie abends den Pinguinen beim Anlanden zugeschaut... Auch ein sehr schöner Tag.

On Phillip Island we visited the Wild Life Park and a sea bird sanctuary, in the evening we saw Penguins comming to the beach. ... A nice day as well.

Zunächst war erst einmal die schöne Natur angesagt: Herrliche Ausblicke in die Landschaft um den Mount Dandenong und nach Melbourne, sowie ein kurzer Spaziergang durch den Urwald den Nationalparks und einen kleinen Ort.
  Am Nachmittag haben wir "William Ricketts Sanctuary" besucht, einen Platz, an dem dieser Künstler in vielen Skulpturen die Aborigines, den Verlust ihres Landes durch die Kononialisierung und seine Verbundenheit mit ihnen darstellt. Er lebte bei ihnen und in Indien, erarbeitete sich eine friedliche Weltanschauung aus ihrer Kultur, indischen und christlichen Einflüssen.

At the beginning the beautiful nature was the target to be visited. We saw tremendous look outs into the landscape around Mount Dandenong as well an to Melbourne, and did a short walk into the origin forest and a small village their.
  After that we visited "William Ricketts Sanctuary", a place were the artist mode sculptures of the Aborigines, symbolizing the loss of their country by cononialisation and his tight relation to them. He lived together with them and in India, developed himself a peaceful opinion of the world, based upon the Aborigine culture and Indian as well as Christian influences.

Da er am Montag fit für eine Präsentation beim Kunden sein muss, hat Chris am Freitag schon seinen Geburtstag vorgefeiert, eine gute Möglichkeit, die Kollegen mal alle im Bild zu haben. Nach einem Umtrunk im Büro und Ashita´s Bestehen darauf, wo anders hinzugehen, ging die Party noch in Melbournes Bars weiter ...

Because he has to hold do a presentation to the customer on Monday, Chris pre-celebrated his birthday already on Friday, a good possibility to show the colleagues in some pictures. After having some drinks in the office and Ashita´s insisting on going anywhere else the party continued in the bars of Melbourne...

Von der Antarktis bis in die Japanische Tiefsee und durch das Meer um Australien herum führt das Melbourne Aquarium seine Besucher. Viele der Tiere hatte ich aus dieser Nähe noch nicht gesehen, darunter z.B. hervorragend getarnte Fische, die im Versteck auf Beute lauern. Die Fütterung der Haie ist natürlich die Hauptattraktion. Diese fressen den Tauchern aus der Hand.

Starting from Antarctica to the Japanese deep sea and trough the sea around Australia the Melbourne Aquarium leads it’s visitors. Many of the animals I never saw that close, among them e.g. fishes, which masks themselves very good, waiting for their prey to come along. Feeding the sharks, of course, is the highlight. They are even taking the food off the diver’s hands.

Diese Woche kamen zwei unserer Vorstände, Ludger und Henry, aus Jena zu Besuch. Eine gute Gelegenheit Neuigkeiten auszutauschen und mal mit dem ganzen Team zusammen zu sein.

This week two of the three members of the board of directors, Ludger and Henry, came from Jena for a visit, a good opportunity to exchange the latest news and to sit together as a whole team.

An diesem Tage fand die Parade anlässlich des Großen Finales der Australischen Footy League statt. Die Mannschaften aus St. Kilda, einen Vorort von Melbourne, und Geelong, einer kleinen Stadt in der Nähe, standen sich gegenüber. Die "Cats" aus Geelong gewannen am nächsten Tag knapp kurz vor Ende des Spiels und schlugen St. Kilda, das sein drittes Finale in Serie spielte.
 Das Ganze ist so, als fahren in Deutschland "Schweini", "Poldi" & co. direkt an einem vorbei.
 Sehens- und hörenswert waren auch die Kapellen ... Gruß an den Spielmannszug Mellingen :-)

At this day the parade in occasion of the Grand Final of The Australian Footy League took place. The teams of St. Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne, and Geelong, a City nearby, were the combatants. The "Cats" from Geelong curtly won the game in it´s last minutes at the next day, beating St. Kilda, which played it's 3rd final in a row.
  The thing is as like as Schweinsteiger ("Schweini"), Podolski ("Poldi") and other well known German soccer Bundesliga players would pass nearby the viewers.
  The brass bands were worth to be seen and heard, too... Greetings to the Mellingen marching brass band :-)

"Bei gutem Wetter schafft es jeder..." kann man als Motto über die Tour an der Great Ocean Road schreiben. Sie wurde nach dem ersten Weltkrieg von heimkehrenden Soldaten errichtet und bietet immer wieder schöne Ausblicke auf das Meer und schöne Natur im Hinterland.
 Wir sahen freilebende Koalas. Der Regen machte klar, warum die Urwälder in Victoria Kaltregenwald heißen. Der Sturm lieferte ein beeindruckendes Schauspiel an der Steilküste um die "Zwölf Apostel", von denen einer in den letzten Tagen wegen Erosion zusammengebrochen ist. Nun sind sieben übrig.

"If the whether is fine, anybody can make it ..." may be the motto on our tour along the Great Ocean Rode. The street has been build by soldiers returning home after World War I and provides again and again nice look outs to the sea and beautiful nature in the back of the coast.
 We saw free living koalas. The rain let us know, why the origin woods in Victoria are called could rain forest. The storm provided an amazing spectacle at the steep coast around the "Twelve Apostels", one broke down caused by erosion in the last days. Now seven of them are remaining.
